Alejandro Fargosi

Alejandro Fargosi was born in Buenos Aires in 1954. He is a lawyer who graduated from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where he received the Faculty of Law’s Honor Diploma at the age of 21. His academic career began at the same institution, where he held teaching positions in Administrative Law, Commercial Law, and Civil Law. He later concluded his university teaching career by directing the postgraduate program in Communications Law in 2005.

In addition to his academic involvement at UBA, Fargosi taught at several prominent private universities in Argentina, including Universidad de San Andrés, Universidad Austral, Universidad de Belgrano, Universidad Católica Argentina, and Universidad del Salvador.

Professional Career and Institutional Roles

Alejandro Fargosi has been actively involved in various legal institutions throughout his career. In the professional legal community, he served as Deputy Secretary General of the Buenos Aires Bar Association (Colegio Público de Abogados) from 1986 to 1988, and was re-elected for the 1988–1990 term. He also served as an alternate councilor from 2004 to 2006.

Since 2007, Fargosi has held several key leadership roles in the Argentine legal and communications fields. He is President of the Argentine Academy of Arts and Sciences of Communication, President of the Argentine Association of Telecommunications Law, and Director of the Institute of Communications Law at UBA’s Law School. He is also Director of the Legal Division of IDEA (Instituto para el Desarrollo Empresarial de la Argentina).

In addition, he is a member of the Academic Committee for the Postgraduate Program in Telecommunications Management at the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA), as well as a member of the Honorary Advisory Council at the Institute of Communications Law within UBA’s Faculty of Law.

Alejandro Fargosi has focused most of his professional activity on the private sector, although he has occasionally served as a legal advisor to the Argentine government. Over the years, he has established a reputation as a prominent legal scholar and practitioner.

He has authored around 30 legal doctrinal articles and has participated in over 100 conferences and public debates. His expertise and professional contributions have earned him scholarships for advanced legal courses abroad, further enriching his international legal perspective.

Fargosi remains a respected figure in the legal and academic communities of Argentina, with a long-standing commitment to legal education, public debate, and the development of communications law.
