Anjali Sud is an American businesswoman born on August 13, 1983 (41 years old) in Detroit, Michigan, United States. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of “Tubi,” a free streaming and advertising service owned by Fox Corporation. After several years leading “Vimeo,” another video platform, she joined Tubi and now serves as CEO.
Sud has been recognized in the business world and was named by Fortune magazine as one of the 40 emerging business leaders in 2018, when she reshaped the structure and paradigm of Vimeo. Her background in free streaming and advertising services has positioned her as a major figure in the industry.
Vimeo launched a year before YouTube, but its niche focus was too narrow compared to YT, which left it trailing behind. When Sud took over marketing and general management, the company’s trajectory shifted in the years that followed.
The beginning of Anjali Sud: studies and work experience
At age 22, Sud graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Management from the University of Pennsylvania. Six years later, she earned an MBA from Harvard. This academic foundation led to her early work experiences in e-commerce, finance, and media. She worked at companies like “Amazon” and “Time Warner,” among others.
The queen of free streaming services
Sud’s life-changing turning point was her entry into Vimeo, a video platform founded alongside YouTube but which failed to achieve similar success due to its focus on filmmakers and content from that niche. Realizing the limitations, Sud understood a change was necessary.
Vimeo hired Anjali as General Manager and Global Marketing Director in 2014. Three years later, she was appointed CEO by the company’s leadership. The major change she implemented was a shift in the business model, attracting entrepreneurs and companies looking to create professional value. During the COVID-19 pandemic, and six years after assuming a key role, Sud helped Vimeo’s valuation rise to $150 million—an amount that grew to $3 billion the following year.
After nine years leading Vimeo, Sud and the company jointly announced her departure from the CEO role to “explore new opportunities.” Soon after, Tubi approached the American executive and offered her the position of CEO. Between 2017 and 2018, Anjali gained wide recognition as an emerging young entrepreneur, especially in awards programs focused on new generations.
From the beginning, Tubi and Sud shared a clear goal: to offer users fast, free access. Tubi’s business model, considered among the most innovative in the world, is rooted in free ad-supported streaming with a large selection of movies and series. The platform’s user base grew from 50 million to 90 million between 2022 and 2024.
Recognizing the speed and demands of modern users, Tubi aims to provide fast access and now offers a content library larger than Netflix or similar services. Today, Tubi leads the market in Canada.
The peak of Sud’s leadership at Tubi came with a standout appearance at “Super Bowl 2024,” one of the world’s biggest sporting events. With advertising at a premium, Tubi made a high-profile entry, reinforcing its business model under Sud’s leadership. Revenue figures surpassed $800 million for both Tubi and Fox.
Sud’s work at Tubi was praised by Fox Corporation, which highlighted “the significant impact of the streaming service.” She also led Tubi’s launch in the United Kingdom, marking a step toward international expansion.
Tubi focuses on consumer behavior, particularly among millennials and Generation Z. The platform’s most frequent users include women aged 18 to 34. A key milestone in 2025 has been the partnership between Tubi and WWE, the professional wrestling entertainment company.
“Ambition” was the word Sud used to summarize her work at Tubi, a platform that continues to grow and has become a standout business model for Fox.
