
Benjamin Steinbruch (born June 28, 1953, in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian businessman.
Married and father of four children, he graduated in business administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas. He is the son of Mendel Steinbruch, who, together with Jacks Rabinovich Rodrigues, founded the Vicunha Group, the largest textile group in Latin America.
In the early 1990s, he was responsible for finding new business opportunities for the group. He led the consortium that acquired Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional and Companhia Vale do Rio Doce during the privatization process, among others. He eventually gave up his shares in Vale to increase his stake in CSN, a company where he is currently the main shareholder. He also served as executive manager at Banco Safra from 2008 to 2011. During his term, he earned the equivalent of 200 million reais.
In addition to Vicunha Group and CSN, his family also controls Banco Fibra. His current fortune is estimated at R$ 980 million.
