Eduardo Elsztain is a renowned Argentine businessman born on January 26, 1960. He is the President of Cresud and IRSA, known as one of the most diversified real estate companies in Argentina, along with IRSA Commercial Properties, which include 16 shopping centers and top-tier office buildings, Banco Hipotecario, and the agricultural companies Cresud and BrasilAgro.

Who is Eduardo Elsztain

Elsztain is known for being the president of the mentioned companies and also of the IRSA Foundation, which was created to promote the education of children and young people. He is also co-founder of Endeavor Argentina and Vice President of the World Jewish Congress.

He was one of the figures responsible for the privatization of Banco Hipotecario Nacional in 1997, which has since been reorganized as a corporation. The events that most marked his career were the irregularities in the privatization process alongside Daniel Marx and former Economy Minister Roque Fernández (among other officials), due to the alleged commission of the crimes of illicit association, usury, abuse of authority, fraud against public administration, breach of official duties, passive bribery and influence peddling, embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, incompatible negotiations with public office, and fraud against commerce and industry.

Cresud – IRSA

Elsztain is President of Cresud, majority shareholder of the IRSA Group, and also owner of Alto Palermo, Patio Bullrich, Dot Shopping, Abasto Shopping, and Distrito Arcos. His wealth was estimated by the magazine Forbes at around 5 billion dollars in 2011, but that figure is only an estimate of his real wealth, as his assets continued to rise and by 2014 his valuation was even higher.
