Gonzalo Begazo, born in Peru, is the current CEO and co-founder of Chazki, a logistics platform that offers “logistics solutions to boost the growth and success of ecommerce,” as defined on its website. The company co-founded by the Peruvian entrepreneur provides services across the supply chain through technology and a personalized approach designed to optimize clients’ costs.

In 2014, the World Economic Forum selected Begazo among the most influential Young Global Leaders. He has worked at several multinationals (Microsoft, Google, Goldman Sachs) and has consistently stood out for his work in the technology field. Between 2010 and 2011, he was also included among the most influential Hispanics in the sector.

With extensive experience in technology, he is constantly involved in startup investing across Latin America. He acts as an angel investor and has invested his own money in more than ten early-stage ventures. He is also a mentor in different academies and telecommunications companies.

Today, after years at the top of the startup ecosystem and after serving as Google’s Corporate Finance Director, Begazo chose to found his own startup in response to an unresolved problem and unmet demand. A few years ago, together with a partner, he co-founded Chazki, a company focused on logistics and delivery experience.

Work at multinationals before founding Chazki

Begazo graduated from Universidad del Pacífico and completed a master’s degree at Cornell University in New York. From there he settled in the United States and built a corporate career through different roles at multinational companies.

Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and IBM formed a sequence of major multinational experiences in the technology and banking industries. He later took on responsibilities at Google as Corporate Director of Finance. After that, he worked at AJE, a multinational beverage company with presence in multiple countries.

At AJE, Begazo served as a global leader within administration and finance, a high-responsibility position in which he assumed functions across different areas. AJE was an indispensable experience for him, and from his work in the technology industry he reflected on the differences between ecommerce in the United States and in Central and South America.

Why did Gonzalo Begazo co-found Chazki?

After a long path in large corporations, the Peruvian entrepreneur understood that his project needed to focus on facilitating and improving the digital infrastructure of ecommerce. In an interview, he compared package delivery times between American and Peruvian companies, and that contrast became a turning point that pushed him toward entrepreneurship.

How did they achieve it? Chazki became the first platform to offer logistics solutions in places that are inaccessible for traditional companies. With Mercado Libre’s cooperation—which enabled the company’s entry into Argentina—and with Amazon as its first client in Mexico, the company expanded rapidly and now operates in several countries across the continent.

“Experience is our secret. We obsess over the idea that, even if Juan delivers your package one day and Lupe delivers it the next, the experience is equally good,” the co-founder emphasized, highlighting the user experience. From the start, Chazki invested in connecting companies, an internal logistics communication system, real-time driver tracking, and a post-delivery satisfaction survey.

Mercado Pago, Adidas, Lego, Nestlé, Falabella, and Sony are among the companies that use Chazki’s services. To reach that level, Begazo promoted training that was measured, culture-aware, and adapted to each country to achieve customer loyalty and retention.

In another interview, he stressed the importance of “falling in love with the problem and not the solution.” When he identified the ecommerce problem and the lack of resources and tools in Latin America’s digital infrastructure, he launched his project with a partner to address that gap.

“Thanks to Platanitos and then Amazon, we convinced the rest,” said the entrepreneur, who still values Amazon’s early support as a bridge that helped attract other companies.

From promise to leader

More than ten years ago, the World Economic Forum had already described Gonzalo Begazo as one of the under-40 figures with the greatest potential in the technology arena. He left behind a stable career at Google to bet on logistics and ecommerce in Latin America—his region within the continent.

Today he is Chazki’s CEO and offers a broad range of logistics services, with quality and user experience as the core of its delivery offering. And how does he do it? Through technological tools—the same ones that have accompanied him and continue to accompany him in his preferred field.
