Hernan Antonio Calvo Sanchez (2)

Hernan Antonio Calvo Sanchez began his academic journey in Argentina, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires. While already advancing his professional career, he continued to strengthen his knowledge base by completing a Master’s in Finance at the University of Buenos Aires, a Bachelor’s in Management at UADE (Argentine University of Business), and a Bachelor’s in Quality Management from Palermo University, also in Argentina, among other seminars and specialized courses.

Calvo Sanchez began his career in the transportation industry, particularly in maritime operations, where he assumed senior positions and contributed to several startup projects, always focusing on efficiency and value creation. He gained comprehensive experience across nearly all departments within these companies and assumed leadership roles in multiple areas of general operations.

Over the years, he has held high-responsibility roles that involved launching new ventures and developing businesses primarily focused on ferry operations and the tourism industry, including ferry companies, tour operators, and travel agencies. His expertise has been centered on expanding both B2C and B2B sales, offering innovative marketing strategies, promotional initiatives, and activation campaigns.

His many achievements have allowed him to lead complex projects with consistently successful results, managing large teams of professionals early in his career.

International Leadership and Associations

In addition to executive positions in several well-known companies, Hernan Antonio Calvo Sanchez has been an active member of industry organizations such as ANAVE (Spanish Shipowners’ Association), CONFITARMA (Italian Shipowners’ Confederation), the Spanish Association for Short Sea Shipping (Short Sea Promotion Center Spain), and the European Short Sea Network (ESN).

He has served as CEO and Executive Director in companies operating in South America, Europe, Africa, the United States, and the Caribbean. This extensive international experience has shaped him both personally and professionally, allowing him to embrace cultural diversity, speak four languages fluently, and understand the specific needs of diverse markets and regions.

His work with high-tech teams in the transportation sector has brought him closer to the fields of industrial and engineering innovation. He has contributed to improvements in heavy equipment, ship propulsion using clean energy, and software-based logistics solutions.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

In recent years, Calvo has become increasingly involved in projects related to renewable energy, recycling technologies, and environmental sustainability. His latest focus has been on plastic recycling, where he is actively engaged in innovative approaches to plastic waste management.

After participating in various initiatives, he has centered his interest on a technology known as “plastic-to-fuel,” a process that transforms plastic waste into fuel, which can then be reused to manufacture new plastic products—achieving what is known as a circular economy.

Hernan Antonio Calvo Sanchez firmly believes that the planet’s future depends on humanity’s ability to embrace circularity in waste management: we must produce, consume, recycle, and produce again—completing the cycle sustainably.
