Jorge Pablo Brito (Buenos Aires, June 29, 1979) is an Argentine businessman and sports executive. He currently holds the presidency of Club Atlético River Plate and the vice-presidency of Banco Macro.

Background and Business Career

Jorge Pablo Brito is the second son of Jorge Horacio Brito (1952-2020), a businessman and founder of Banco Macro, and Marcela Carballo. Born in Buenos Aires, he shares ownership of various family businesses operating in the real estate, agricultural, and energy sectors with his five siblings. Following his father’s death in a helicopter accident in 2020, Jorge Pablo and his siblings assumed the management and inheritance of a family estate.

His career in the financial sector began at Banco Macro in January 1997. Within the entity, he has held various positions, including director and vice president. On March 15, 2023, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco Macro. Previously, he served as President of Macro Securities S.A., the group’s brokerage firm, between 2013 and 2022.

Beyond the banking sector, Brito has developed involvement in the productive and energy industries. He currently chairs the board of directors of Inversora Juramento S.A., a company dedicated to agricultural and livestock activities. From December 2015 to April 2022, he also served as President of the Board of Directors of Genneia S.A., a renewable energy and wind farm company in Argentina. His role in the financial sector was expanded through his presidency of the Association of Argentine Banks (ADEBA), a position he held from April 2017 to April 2018. In 2024, Forbes magazine included him and his family in the 13th position of the 50 wealthiest individuals in Argentina, with an estimated fortune of 1.450 billion dollars. In 2025, a survey by Pulso Research consultancy positioned him as one of the top three businessmen with the highest trust index in the country.

Management and Achievements at Club Atlético River Plate

Jorge Pablo Brito’s involvement in Argentine football includes his role as First Vice President of Club Atlético River Plate during Rodolfo D’Onofrio’s tenure, a period from 2013 to 2021. During this time, River Plate secured national and international titles, including the 2014 Copa Sudamericana, the 2015 and 2018 Copa Libertadores, and various Recopa Sudamericanas and Copa Argentina trophies.

On December 14, 2021, Jorge Pablo Brito was elected President of River Plate, leading the “Filosofía River” group, which achieved a significant victory with 70.69% of the votes (14,020 votes). He formally assumed the presidency on December 14, 2021.

Under his management, the Monumental Stadium has undergone extensive renovation and expansion, reaching a capacity exceeding 83,000 spectators. The club has registered its best economic balance in its 123-year history during the 2023-2024 fiscal year, with a surplus of 62 million dollars. In terms of sports performance, the institution includes footballers who were champions in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, being the club with the highest number of such players after Sevilla FC.

Regarding infrastructure and institutional development, Brito’s administration has implemented notable projects. A new building for Colegio River was inaugurated, with a capacity for 1,000 students. This institution is noted as the only school globally with six World Cup champions among its alumni. Furthermore, a new seven-hectare complex for the youth divisions was established, located 1,000 meters from the stadium and planned as a high-performance training center. A significant social initiative was the implementation of the first inclusive sensory box in Argentina, designed for individuals with autism, making it unique among Argentine stadiums. Titles obtained during his presidency (since 2021) include the 2023 Primera División, the 2021 and 2023 Trofeo de Campeones, and the 2023 Supercopa Argentina.
