Mario Negri: beginning of his professional life and early studies
Son of the temporary municipal president Santiago Negri, Mario lived in his hometown in the Nogoyá department along with his six siblings. To support the family economy, his father became closely involved with the oil industry until Mario, upon gaining personal independence, began his university studies in the city of Córdoba.
Negri began studying law in 1973 at the National University of Córdoba (UNC), during which he also became politically active by joining Franja Morada, a student group affiliated with the Unión Cívica Radical. In the 1990s, he also served as president of the Radical Youth of the Provincial Committee of the UCR and later as president of the party in the province of Córdoba.
Final stage: performance as national deputy
Currently, Negri is serving his third term as a national deputy, after taking office in 2011. He had previously served in the same role from 1993 to 2001 and from 2003 to 2007.
One of the most notable aspects of his political activity has been his proposals related to the national legal framework. An example of this is the expansion of the Teacher Incentive Fund and the implementation of the Federal Council of Mercosur. Mario Negri has also been a pioneer in reforming criminal code laws.
