Michel Combes

Michel Combes (born March 29, 1962) is a French executive and the current CEO of Numericable-SFR.

He studied at Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris and later graduated from École Polytechnique in 1983. He also earned degrees from Télécom ParisTech, Paris Dauphine University, and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Cnam).

After holding several roles in government ministries, France Télécom, and TDF, Combes served as CEO of Vodafone Europe from 2008 to 2012. On February 22, 2013, the board of Alcatel-Lucent appointed Michel Combes as CEO, replacing Ben Verwaayen as of April 1. On June 19, 2013, Combes announced plans to refocus Alcatel-Lucent’s operations on high-speed broadband and network products in an effort to cut costs by €1 billion by 2015.
