Natalia Oreiro, born on May 19, 1977 (48 years old) in Montevideo, Uruguay, is an actress, singer, model, and fashion designer. At age 17 she moved to Argentina, and from that moment on her career never stopped. She acted in various TV dramas and films, and as a singer she recorded more than four albums and sold over seven million copies, with multiple hits that marked her career as a solo artist.

She is a UNICEF “Goodwill Ambassador” and is recognized for having carried out several philanthropic initiatives throughout her professional path. She performed charity concerts for humanitarian causes, collaborated with Greenpeace on different occasions, and is godmother of the “Peluffo Giguens Foundation,” a Uruguayan organization that supports children with cancer.

Oreiro has worked since her teenage years, when she moved from Uruguay to Argentina. She has said that Argentina “is the madness she needs,” something reflected in the countless productions she has taken part in as an actress. She is also a TV host and fulfilled that role at the Viña del Mar Festival in 2011, where she was also crowned queen and later served as a juror.

Oreiro has been nominated for several awards in television, film, and music. She won two Martín Fierro Awards in the category “Best Comedy Actress.” In the music world, she was nominated for the Gardel Awards and the Latin Grammys thanks to her album Tu veneno.

Present: film and… music?

Natalia Oreiro’s current career stage finds her filming multiple movies and TV series. Her last live show was in 2019, and it has been more than twenty years since she last released a full studio album. To manage expectations, she has openly said that she “wants to make films” and that she seeks “roles I haven’t done before, or that fit the moment and age I am living.”

“I prefer audiovisual work,” Oreiro said, without ruling out singing or touring again, although for now she prioritizes challenging herself with deeper roles in film or television. She remains active in the music industry through collaborations with Argentine pop bands and guest performances in different projects.

In her recent lead role in the film La mujer de la fila, Oreiro sang one of the songs included in the movie and described it as something specific to the story. She also commented on the current situation of the Argentine film industry: “Our cinema is an industry that moves a lot of money abroad and strengthens the country,” she said, while acknowledging it is going through “a difficult moment.”

Natalia Oreiro’s most iconic series and films

Milagros Espósito is the fictional character played by Natalia Oreiro in Muñeca Brava. In early 2024, due to the magnitude of the show between 1998 and 1999, it was added to the Netflix catalog. The series became a global phenomenon, reaching more than 80 countries and being translated into multiple languages.

The Uruguayan actress always balanced TV work with film roles. During the Muñeca Brava boom, she starred in the movie Un argentino en Nueva York. Countless film roles followed, starting with titles such as Cleopatra, La Peli, Infancia Clandestina, and her biographical performance in Gilda.

In 2022, the Argentine web series Santa Evita was released. Natalia Oreiro portrayed Eva Perón, playing the former First Lady in a story centered on the events after her death and the fate of her body. The series premiered in July 2022.

Animals in Danger, Oreiro’s series with Greenpeace

In November 2025, Natalia Oreiro released a documentary series with Greenpeace titled Animales en peligro, which highlights and details endangered species in South America. In the production, a group of influencers explores natural environments across Latin America to showcase the vulnerability and lack of protection affecting species at risk of extinction. The series has six episodes of approximately 30 minutes each and was created by Eugenia Ratcliffe. The penguin, the jaguar (yaguareté), and the huemul are some of the featured species.

Greenpeace’s Director of Content stated that “bringing to the screen material meant to raise awareness about the dangers faced by animal species” was a major challenge. Oreiro is the main protagonist and was chosen by Greenpeace and Ratcliffe due to her philanthropic work and her commitment to improving and protecting natural life.
