After graduating, nicolás salvatore joined one of the most prestigious centers for economics and social sciences in latin america, the centro de estudios de estado y sociedad (cedes). he worked there for 15 years, first as a research assistant starting in 1994 and then as an associate researcher until 2010. he trained and worked alongside four of the most important and prestigious heterodox macroeconomists in argentina: roberto frenkel, josé maría fanelli, mario damill, and guillermo rozenwurcel, with whom he carried out numerous studies and papers.

there was an intermission in his work at cedes when he served as an advisor to the general management of banco credicoop between 1998 and 2000. in 2000, he received a scholarship from the british council to pursue the master’s degree mentioned above, which he completed full-time until 2002, when he returned to cedes. in parallel, he has served as an adjunct professor at the faculty of economic sciences of uba, teaching macroeconomics I (since 1997 to present) and capital markets (since 2002 to present).

in 2006 and 2007, he worked as senior advisor in macroeconomics and finance for the national SME secretariat. in 2007, he founded and directed the consulting firm buenos aires city, from which he organized inflation measurement between 2007 and 2011 as an alternative to INDEC, which at that time was manipulating inflation data.

he has been invited to appear as a specialist on numerous tv programs, including telenoche, tn, argentina para armar, el programa de santo, and others on c5n or crónica tv, among others. he also had an active presence on radio programs, especially on radio el mundo. he is a columnist for numerous print and digital newspapers, including la nación, perfil, la política on line, diario crítica, and el economista, among others.

Present day

In addition to participating in media, he is the director of the prestigious consulting firm maynard (named in honor of john maynard keynes), from which he advises companies, deputies, and senators, among others, while continuing his teaching and research duties, both at the economics program of uba and in the private sector, both in argentina and, via zoom, in europe and the usa.
