Serguei Brin

Sergey Brin was born in Moscow, Soviet Union, on August 21, 1973. He is an American computer scientist and internet entrepreneur. Alongside his partner Larry Page, he co-founded Google, one of the world’s largest and most profitable companies. Together, the two magnates control 16% of the company.

He is also one of the richest people in the world, with an estimated fortune of $30 billion.

Born on August 21, 1973, in Moscow, Soviet Union, he is the son of Eugenia Brin, a researcher at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, and Michael Brin, a mathematics professor at the University of Maryland. Sergey emigrated to the United States when he was only six years old.

He studied at Paint Branch Montessori School. Encouraged by his father to explore his natural interest in mathematics, he later enrolled at the University of Maryland to study computer science and mathematics.

The birth of Google

Sergey Brin met Larry Page during orientation sessions for new students at Stanford University. Although they initially clashed, they quickly connected and began sharing an endless stream of ideas, especially regarding their mutual interest in mathematics. From their collaboration came the creation of BackRub in 1996, the search engine that would eventually become Google. The project grew rapidly, and they realized they had developed an extraordinary search engine, which they launched on the web with great success.

They decided to leave university and fully dedicate themselves to the search engine, requesting financial support from professors, family, and friends. They purchased several servers and rented a garage in Menlo Park. Thus began the story of Google Inc.

On August 10, Brin was appointed CEO of Alphabet Inc., founded on that same day after Google’s reorganization. He was then in charge of Google X.

In 2007, Sergey Brin married Anne Wojcicki in the Bahamas.

His mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In 2008, he made a major donation to the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where his mother was being treated.

Brin is also involved in other personal projects outside Google. Together with Larry Page, he seeks to tackle the global energy crisis and environmental threats.

In the field of philanthropy, there is a platform called Google.org, which invests in the energy sector to discover new renewable sources.
