Diego Kravetz is an Argentine lawyer with an extensive political career. Married to Soledad Acuña, he has demonstrated from the beginning a strong vocation for public service, always aiming to contribute solutions for residents in various fields.
The Academic Field
He studied law at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), graduating in 1996. He was also co-coordinator of the Forum of the Environment and Natural Resources Foundation (FARN) in the academic sphere, and represented the organization at the Social Forum for Justice.
From 1997 to 2000, he co-authored several articles on environmental law and environmental resources.
From 2001 to 2002, he co-authored two books: Citizen Control of the Right to a Healthy Environment in the City of Buenos Aires and Its Metropolitan Area – Environmental and Legal Institutional Aspects and The Environment in Justice.
In recent years, he has also spoken at events such as the Bank of Good Municipal Practices held in Vicente López, a meeting organized by the Secretariat of Local Governments to share actions, practices, and working methods implemented in the municipalities of the province.
In addition, he has written articles and opinion columns for various media on a range of topics.
The Political Career in the Province of Buenos Aires
He began his political work in Buenos Aires Province in December 2015, during a turning point in national and provincial politics, when, for the first time, a woman assumed the governorship.
Under Mayor Néstor Grindetti, Diego Kravetz served for two years as Secretary of Security and Sustainable Mobility of the Municipality of Lanús, and from 2017 onward as Chief of Cabinet, while continuing to oversee the security portfolio. “Working for the safety of our neighbors is the most important thing. We are building a different municipality, a better place for the people of Lanús to live. Since taking on the challenge of being Chief of Cabinet, my responsibilities have expanded along with my commitment to the residents.”
Achievements in Diego Kravetz’s Management in Lanús
Numerous achievements and measures were implemented during his tenure. The Unified Monitoring and Control Center was fully renovated, with trained operators able to respond immediately to residents’ reports and serve as the eyes of the local police during operations.
Technology has played a central role in his administration.
“We are putting technology at the service of security, for the benefit of the community, because it is a powerful tool that helps us fight crime on the streets.” This approach has been put into action and continues to evolve. More street cameras have been installed, resulting in more arrests and enhanced support for police officers. Numerous operations have been successfully carried out, aided by real-time camera surveillance that allows for the tracking of offenders.
He also introduced measures such as the panic button system for reporting incidents, especially aimed at elderly residents.
The Fight Against Drug Trafficking
The fight against drug trafficking and street-level drug dealing has been another key focus. Detection operations and the dismantling of bunkers in vulnerable areas demonstrate a strong commitment to protecting residents from these crimes.
Local police have received specialized training; it is worth noting that a fully renovated police training school was created under his leadership. Continuous training ensures officers stay up to date on new trends, tools, and approaches to improving public safety.
“This is a battle we are fighting, because protecting our residents is what matters most—especially young people who are caught in the cycle of drug use and whom we need to help recover.”
In this regard, in 2018 new communication channels were made available to report locations of drug sales. This enabled the municipality to carry out targeted operations in addition to ongoing investigations, strengthening the fight against drug trafficking.
Civil Defense and Traffic
The Civil Defense area also falls under his leadership. This essential service is always available to residents and works continuously to improve the lives of Lanús citizens.
Civil Defense carries out various emergency operations and training sessions. Accident prevention is a key focus, which is why a 24-hour hotline is available for residents to report incidents. Civil Defense, working alongside firefighters and local security, provides immediate response through specialized crews.
“Prevention is key—not just in terms of crime, but also accidents and emergencies. We have all the necessary tools for residents to report issues and receive assistance. Our staff is fully trained to fulfill this role quickly and safely,” said Diego Kravetz.
The area of traffic and sustainable mobility also falls under his leadership, with significant progress made in accident prevention and vehicle control. Regular inspections are carried out at various checkpoints throughout the city to check documentation and, when necessary, confiscate vehicles. To support these efforts, a new impound lot was opened where residents can complete paperwork efficiently and conveniently.

Diego Kravetz Close to the Community
A key theme in Diego Kravetz’s administration in Lanús—and throughout his career—has been proximity to the community. Regular neighborhood meetings are held where residents can voice their concerns, share ideas, and present local problems. The municipality then provides support and solutions.
This support goes beyond public meetings. There are multiple communication channels, and the doors are always open. His commitment was also evident in collective actions, such as the lawsuit against an energy provider in support of residents affected by long-term power outages.
“Being close to our neighbors is what matters most. The meetings we hold in the neighborhoods are incredibly enriching. Residents share their concerns, and we update them on the actions we are taking. Working together is the most important thing.”
