Samuel Liberman (May 19, 1932, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine businessman based in Panama. He is known as the founder of several companies in different countries, such as Floramérica (acquired by Dole Food Company) in Colombia, Video Cable Comunicación (VCC) acquired by Multicanal in Argentina, Salmoamérica in Chile, and Global SLi in Panama. He is the 13th richest Argentine according to Forbes magazine.
Liberman entered the business world in the late 1960s, obtaining the Latin American representation of the Japanese watch brand Orient and establishing his distribution center in the Colón Free Trade Zone in Panama.
In the 1970s, he founded Floramérica, dedicated to the production, distribution, and marketing of fresh flowers, with plantations in Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico and distribution centers in the United States, the Netherlands, and Japan. In 1998, Floramérica was acquired by Dole Food Company.
In Argentina, he created Video Cable Comunicación (VCC), one of the first cable television systems in the country and in Latin America. Through VCC, Argentina’s first audiovisual programming signal was uploaded to the INTELSAT satellite. In 1997, VCC, with 800,000 subscribers, was jointly acquired by the Multicanal group and Citicorp Equity Investment (CEI).
