Marcos Peña

Marcos Peña was born on March 15, 1977. He is an Argentine politician, author, and political scientist who served as Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers during the presidency of Mauricio Macri.

Previously, he served as a legislator for the City of Buenos Aires for the Commitment to Change Front. He is one of the main advisors of the Republican Proposal. He personally led the campaign that resulted in Macri being elected President of Argentina in 2015.

Early life and education of Marcos Peña

Marcos Peña was born on March 15, 1977, in Buenos Aires. He is the son of Félix Peña, a specialist in foreign trade, and Clara Braun, an academic. He is the grandson of Argentine physiologist Eduardo Braun-Menéndez. He attended his early elementary school years at Wayside Elementary School in Potomac, Maryland, United States, as his parents were living abroad. He later returned to Argentina and completed high school in Buenos Aires. He graduated with a degree in political science from the Torcuato Di Tella University.

Marcos Peña: political career

He was elected legislator for the City of Buenos Aires in 2003 through Commitment to Change. He helped to create Commitment to Change, which later became Republican Proposal, popularly known as PRO, a new party that initially backed Mauricio Macri for mayor of the city government. Peña headed the party list of legislators in 2005.
