Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner (born August 10, 1997) is an American media personality. She has starred in the E! reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians since 2007 and is the founder and owner of the cosmetics company Kylie Cosmetics.

At age 14 in 2012, she collaborated with the clothing brand PacSun along with her sister Kendall and created a clothing line, “Kendall & Kylie.” In 2015, Jenner launched her own cosmetics line called Kylie Lip Kits, which was renamed Kylie Cosmetics the following year. She also launched a mobile app that reached number one on the iTunes App Store.

In 2014 and 2015, Time magazine included the Jenner sisters on its list of the most influential teens in the world, citing their considerable influence among youth on social media. As of November 2019, with over 150 million followers, she is one of the most followed people on Instagram. In 2017, Jenner was included in the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, making her the youngest person to appear on the list. Jenner starred in her own spin-off series, Life of Kylie, which premiered on E! on August 6, 2017.

According to Forbes magazine, Jenner’s net worth was estimated at US $1 billion, making her, at age 21, the youngest billionaire in the world as of March 2019. However, the notion that Jenner is self-made has been a subject of controversy due to her privileged background. In November 2018, the New York Post credited her with being the most influential celebrity in the fashion industry.

2015–2018: Rise of Kylie Cosmetics

Jenner became the second ambassador for the skincare brand Nip + Fab in March 2015.

The Jenner sisters were booed while presenting brother-in-law Kanye West’s performance at the Billboard Music Awards in May 2015. In May 2015, an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired in which Jenner admitted to having received lip augmentation. Her enhanced lips from lip fillers sparked speculation and garnered her publicity. Before the episode’s debut, Jenner had claimed she simply used lip liner and covered her lips. As a result, the practice of sucking one’s lips into a small glass to induce increased blood flow and swelling was called the “Kylie Jenner Challenge” (though there was no indication Jenner herself used this method). Jenner responded by saying: “I’m not here to try and encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think that’s how they should look.” In June 2015, the Jenner sisters launched their Kendall + Kylie clothing line with British fashion retailer Topshop. This Topshop collection also included swimwear. In August 2015, Jenner announced she would launch her first lipstick line as part of her eponymous lip kit under the name Kylie Lip Kit. In September 2015, Jenner launched her new personalized website and mobile app. In October 2015, Jenner starred in the music video for Tyga’s song “Dope’d Up.”

In February 2016, Jenner’s cosmetics company was renamed Kylie Cosmetics, and the number of kits produced increased from 15,000 to 500,000.

Jenner released a three-minute promotional video for a series of lip glosses in March 2016, directed by Colin Tilley and featuring her fellow models Karin Jinsui, Mara Teigen, and Jasmine Sanders.

The song in the video was revealed to be “Three Strikes” by Terror Jr, a band created the same day the video was released; however, the lead singer, later revealed to be singer Lisa Vatale, was heavily speculated to be Jenner herself. Jenner later denied any involvement with the band. In May 2016, she made her musical debut rapping on the song “Beautiful Day” by producer Burberry Perry, with Lil Yachty, model Jordyn Woods, and Justine Skye. In fall 2016, it was announced that Jenner would be the new face of PUMA alongside Rae Sremmurd.

In April 2017, she made a surprise appearance at Rio Americano High School’s prom in Sacramento alongside student Albert Ochoa after learning his date had turned him down.
