Hernan Calvo

herna calvo

Hernan Calvo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began working in the transportation sector while still studying at the University of Belgrano. Throughout his professional career in this field, he held high-responsibility positions, participating in various start-up projects, and always seeking efficiency and value creation in every area.

Professional development of Hernan Calvo

During his professional development, he held the position of CEO and General Manager in different companies within the transportation and tourism sector in several countries. He led start-up projects and was also responsible for developing new markets in diverse environments and countries with various cultures.

Throughout his professional journey, he worked in South America, Europe, Africa, the United States, and the Caribbean. This valuable experience shaped the person he is today—capable of integrating cultural diversity, speaking four different languages, and understanding the needs of different markets and regions.

In recent years, following the global shift in a critical area like energy and climate change, he discovered a technology that, in his view, would become a dual-solution. That technology was the Plastic Energy solution.

Hernan Calvo – Plastic Energy

Plastic Energy is a company that recycles plastic to convert it into TACOIL, which is then used to produce plastic again, achieving a perfect example of circular economy. This is a two-way solution because, on one hand, it solves a real problem for our environment regarding solid urban waste pollution by recycling what no one else does, and on the other hand, it enables the production of plastic from recycled materials—so-called green polymers made from recycled plastic.

TACOIL at Plastic Energy

TACOIL is the name of the fuel produced by a TAC plant, using Plastic Energy’s technology. TAC stands for Thermal Anaerobic Conversion, a pyrolysis process without the presence of oxygen, meaning no combustion takes place, which makes this technology more environmentally friendly.

In recent years, Plastic Energy has become a global leader in chemical recycling of plastics, being the only corporation in the world with two industrial plants operating 24 hours a day. The most important aspect is that these plants are industrial—not just laboratory tests—and they are commercially producing TACOIL, which is then used to create green polymers.

Plastic2Fuel – Plastic2Plastic

Hernan Calvo

Hernan Calvo became involved in the plastic recycling business over the past decade, initially with a “Plastic2Fuel” process and later in the “Plastic2Plastic” sector. Currently, Mr. Hernan Calvo serves as Business Development Director at Plastic Energy, aiming to expand the technology in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and South America. Plastic Energy has many ongoing projects in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with the goal of continuously improving and recycling plastic to produce TACOIL worldwide, to be used in plastic production once again—achieving a true circular economy to contribute to the future of our planet.
