Ruben Cherñajovsky

(Buenos Aires, Argentina, January 7, 1948) is an Argentine businessman, co-founder and principal shareholder of Newsan, an Argentine company that is a co-leader in the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of consumer electronics and household appliances.

He was born in Buenos Aires on January 7, 1948. He is married and has five children. He entered the audio equipment import business under the Sansei brand in the late 1970s, specializing in early Hi-Fi systems. In May 1987, he opened his first factory in Tierra del Fuego, which eventually positioned him as the leader of the largest appliance group in the country.

In 1991, he founded Newsan, which today employs more than 6,000 people, with industrial infrastructure in several provinces across Argentina. He currently works as a founding partner.

From the Newsan Group, Rubén Cherñajovsky developed a broad portfolio of brands, including Noblex, Siam, Atma, Sanyo, and Philco, and products spanning categories such as small appliances and major household appliances.

In 2011, he created Newsan Food, the company’s food division, which exports seafood, peanuts, honey, dried plums, and raisins, becoming Argentina’s main seafood exporter since 2014.

Taking advantage of the renewable energy investment boom in Argentina, in 2018 Rubén Cherñajovsky formed an alliance with Vestas, the Danish company and global leader in wind energy, for the assembly of wind turbines at his Campana plant, destined for the country’s main wind farms.
