Fabián Horacio Fernández, 35 years old, from Valentín Alsina, in the district of Lanús, Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a communications professional with a consolidated career in the areas of Communications and Press, Media, Institutional Relations, Public Communication and team management. His profile combines experience in audiovisual media, hosting, journalistic production, political communication, government management and corporate communication.

He is a National Broadcaster who graduated from the Escuela Terciaria de Estudios Radiofónicos (ETER), registration number 10067, an institution where he studied between 2009 and 2011, incorporating technical, expressive and professional tools linked to oral communication, content production and work in radio and television.

Between 2011 and 2014, he began working actively in the local radio and television media ecosystem of the district of Lanús, an initial stage that proved key to his professional training and to the development of his connection with the local public agenda. During those years, he worked as host and columnist for the news program “Telecreativa,” broadcast on local Channel 5, a space dedicated to covering political, economic, social, cultural and sports news at the local and regional levels. The coverage included the southern area of Greater Buenos Aires, with a corridor of nine municipalities extending from Lanús to Ezeiza, which allowed him to come into direct contact with urban, institutional and community issues, as well as with leaders, officials, representatives of the private sector and social figures from the region.

In parallel, he was general producer and host of the television program “Escenario Industrial,” a series aimed at offering a specific view of industry, commerce, production and the local economic fabric. From that role, he promoted interviews and content that sought to bring the public closer to the reality of SMEs, business chambers, trade union organizations and officials with responsibility in productive areas.

He was in charge of the program B60, “Bonaerenses en 60 minutos,” a political program from Lanús that proposed addressing issues of local public life from a plural perspective, bringing together leaders from different parties, officials, legislators, community figures and actors from civil society. The program became established as a space for conversation about municipal and regional politics, and allowed Fabián Fernández to strengthen his experience in moderating debates, formulating journalistic questions, analyzing current affairs and building links with protagonists of the public scene.

Between 2014 and 2015, he worked as a collaborator and adviser in press and communication matters for various business entities, trade union management organizations and institutions linked to productive development. Among them was the Industrial Union of Avellaneda (UIAv), where he hosted the radio program “Generación Industrial” on FM 98.7 and participated in the management of the organization’s official magazine, contributing to the dissemination of institutional content, interviews, sector news and public positioning actions. He also collaborated with the Argentine Federation of Bakery and Related Workers’ Union Personnel (FAUPPA), during Abel Frutos’s tenure as secretary general, the main union of the bakery industry, with federal presence and thousands of affiliated workers throughout the country.

In turn, he worked with the Federation of Argentine-German Associations (FAAG), a business chamber that brings together German companies with subsidiaries in Argentina, strengthening his experience in institutional communication and relations with business entities. During that stage, he also served as official announcer at public vehicle award events for the Renault brand in different localities of the province of Buenos Aires, an activity that allowed him to expand his experience in ceremony, event hosting and public communication before diverse audiences.

In December 2015, Néstor Grindetti, then mayor-elect of Lanús, invited him to join the Communications team that would accompany him during his administration at the head of the municipality. In the early years, he served as Press Director, with responsibility for the daily relationship with local and regional media, the production of official information, the organization of interviews and the coordination of government communication. Over time, he added new responsibilities until he became head of the Undersecretariat of Press and New Media, from where he participated in the definition of communication strategies, institutional campaigns, digital content and government communication actions aimed at informing residents and bringing municipal management closer to them.

During his eight years in municipal government, he was responsible for relations with local, provincial and national media; the coordination of communication across the different government areas; the public agenda and events of the municipal mayor; protocol and ceremonial areas; and the management of the local government’s official social media accounts. This stage allowed him to acquire broad experience in public communication, crisis management and message planning.

Shortly before the 2021 legislative elections, he was invited by the former governor of the province of Buenos Aires, María Eugenia Vidal, to accompany her, together with a group of professionals, in the Buenos Aires City campaign to compete for a seat as national deputy for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. The campaign obtained a successful result, surpassing 45% of the votes, and represented for Fabián Fernández a national-level experience in electoral communication. His participation in that process allowed him to expand his network of political, journalistic and institutional contacts, as well as strengthen his experience in high-visibility campaigns.

In December 2023, after the second-round victory of the current president Javier Milei, Fabián Horacio Fernández was invited by Guillermo Garat, vice president of Communications, Institutional Relations and Marketing at YPF, to serve as Press and Media Manager at YPF, the oil company with majority state ownership.

His incorporation into YPF marked the beginning of a new professional stage within one of the most relevant companies in the country, with strong influence on Argentina’s economic, energy, productive and institutional agenda. From that position, he assumed responsibility for managing relations with the press, accompanying the communication of the executive leadership and contributing to the company’s public positioning in a strategic context for the national energy sector.

Over the course of the administration, the Press and Media Management area evolved into the Directorate of Media, Press and Strategic Alliances, incorporating new responsibilities and expanding its scope of action within the corporate structure.

Fabián Fernández was responsible for the administration of advertising in media; relations with the national, economic, political and specialized press in the energy sector; the writing and dissemination of official statements; the administration of the company’s social media accounts and those of the CEO; functional coordination with the internal communication area under the Vice Presidency of People and Culture; the organization of the public agenda and events of the president and CEO; the ceremonial and protocol area; and the development of strategic alliances with other companies, sports and cultural entities, nonprofit organizations and relevant actors in the institutional ecosystem.

He was also in charge of coordinating the communication teams of the investee companies that make up the YPF Group, including Metrogas, YPF Luz, Mega and Profertil, among other companies linked to different segments of the energy and productive chain. This function required articulating common communication criteria, organizing priorities, accompanying situations of public exposure and promoting an integrated group perspective, while at the same time respecting the identity, specificity and particular challenges of each company.

On a personal level, he has been married for 10 years and has a two-and-a-half-year-old son. A supporter of Racing Club de Avellaneda, he maintains a strong connection with his roots in the southern area of Greater Buenos Aires, the environment where he began his professional development and where he built much of his personal and professional identity. His career reflects a combination of media training, territorial experience, political communication, institutional management and leadership of strategic areas, with a trajectory marked by closeness to the public agenda, the capacity for coordination and the building of links with diverse actors from the public, private, trade union, business and media sectors.
